Biopellets NP is an easy-to-use filter material for phosphate and nitrate removal in seawater aquariums. The NP biopellets, made of 100% biodegradable polymers, simultaneously provide a colonization area and a nutrient source for phosphate and nitrate-degrading bacteria. When growing, the bacteria use the biopellets NP as an organic carbon source (energy source), phosphate and nitrate of the aquarium water as a nitrogen and phosphorus source. The waste products nitrate and phosphate are converted into microbial biomass and then removed from the aquarium by skimming or as an additional food source (bacterial plankton) by filter feeders, mussels, sponges and corals. Application: Biopellets NP have been developed for use in a pellet or fluidized bed reactor for seawater aquariums. Vigorous skimming of the aquarium water is necessary for gas exchange and to remove nutrients. At the beginning, 50 ml of biopellets NP should be used per 100 liters of aquarium contents. This amount can be doubled every 4 - 5 weeks if necessary. A maximum of 200 ml of Biopellets NP should be used per 100 liters of aquarium water.
