Calcium - Salifert professional test for sea water approx
Calcium is a major component of calcareous algae, the skeletal material of hard corals and the skeletal needles of soft/leather corals. Calcium also fulfills many biological functions.
A calcium concentration that is too low often inhibits the growth of corals and calcareous algae.
NSW contains 400 - 450 mg/L calcium. This is also the value we should strive for. For a stable aquarium environment, the fluctuations in the calcium content should, if possible, not be more than approx. 15 mg/L. This automatically means that the calcium test should be able to monitor comparable fluctuations.
Conclusion: In a healthy aquarium, the growth and reproduction of corals, desired calcareous algae and other organisms leads to calcium depletion. Because of the importance of calcium, countermeasures must be taken in a timely manner. For this purpose, a suitable calcium supplement is required along with an accurate test kit.
Our calcium test is able to resolve calcium levels in 10 mg/L increments. The color change is sharp and makes it easier to detect small but highly significant fluctuations in calcium concentration. Salifert is the only one that offers the claimed accuracy and precision.
Approximately 50 - 100 measurements can be carried out with the kit.
