Regenerable, basic anion exchanger with high silicate selectivity. Binds remaining silicates in the permeate (pure water from the reverse osmosis system). 1,000 ml binds up to 10,000 mg of silicate. In particular, high silica contents in tap water often pose a problem in aquariums despite the use of reverse osmosis water. With a silica concentration of 5 mg in tap water and a retention rate of 95% in a reverse osmosis system, a residual silica concentration of 0.25 mg still remains in the permeate . Even this concentration can lead to a diatom problem.
