Worm X
There is no saltwater aquarium in which there are no bristleworms. They usually live in secret and often only come out at night or when feeding. If you can see feeding spots on the corals or flower animals, an infestation of bristleworms cannot be ruled out. Then at the latest, you should arm yourself with a flashlight and search the aquarium with it once at night. If you quickly discover some of these pests, you should, if possible, remove them from the aquarium before major damage can be caused. It is often not possible to catch individual animals with tweezers because the bristle worms often divide and a new bristle worm can develop from each part. You should definitely avoid catching bristle worms by hand, as the small bristles can cause unpleasant skin irritations for days. The easiest and most reliable way to catch bristleworms is with a bristleworm trap. With the help of the Worm X bristleworm trap, bristleworms can be reliably caught and then easily removed from the aquarium.
How the Worm X bristleworm trap works:
- Open one side of the bristleworm trap
- Put some food (krill, mysis,
Dupla Eeze or a little clam meat) and put the trap back together.
- Place the Worm X bristleworm trap in a location where you have previously observed bristleworms.
- Bristleworms are nocturnal. The Worm X bristleworm trap should therefore be used in the evening and removed in the morning.
- Avoid touching bristleworms as their bristles can cause painful injuries.
